Contribute

Mirror Mirror is always looking for fresh ideas--and contributions! If you've just finished a tantalizing tale and are dying to share it with someone, let us be the ones you choose! We're open to reviews year round that adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Your submission should be 500 words or less.  Longer submissions will be returned, unread.
  • We're looking for short book or story reviews in the following genres:  mystery, supernatural/ghost, horror (though nothing gory or explicit please), thriller/suspense, fantasy, and occasionally sci-fi
  • The review needs to be fun, quirky, insightful--and exciting to read! If it bores your grandmother when you read it to her, chances are, it'll bore us too
  • Try not to be too negative in your reviewing--we know how disappointing it is to read a bad book, but try to keep it professional
At this time we are not looking for reviews on plays or poetry.  We seek well-written, intelligent and fun reviews on books or short stories.  Please read Mirror Mirror's previously published reviews to get a better understanding of what type of work we seek.

Payment

At this time, we regret that we can't afford to pay our contributors.  That being said, you do get great exposure on our website and through our marketing with other publishing companies (such as Black Lantern Publishing).

Rights

Should Mirror Mirror choose to feature your review in our journal, then we obtain one-time publication rights for our website and non-exclusive archival rights, which will remain available through our website indefinitely.

How to Submit

Send your submissions to mirror.review@gmail.com.  direct your queries to Wanda Watkins, Witch-in-Chief. In the subject line, please include the following: SUBMISSION [TITLE], [NAME] and in the body of your email, include a brief biography (50 words max.) about yourself, including any previous publishing experience--keep it short, we're not interested in your life stories.  Copy and paste your submission in the body of the email--no attachments please.
